Visiting Earthaven

The best ways to visit Earthaven are to:

Please do not arrive at Earthaven without having made confirmed arrangements in advance. Call 828-669-3937 to make a reservation for a tour. Office hours are 10 to 6 weekdays (except Tuesday) and 9:30 to 1 on Saturday. Other times, please leave a message. Tours

We offer public tours on alternating Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. Remaining tour dates for 2010 are September 11, September 25, October 9, October 23, November 13 and 27, and December 11. Call 828-669-3937 to make a reservation for a tour. Please arrive 15 minutes early to register. The fee for the tour is $15 per adult and we welcome additional donations to help support our outreach efforts. The tour lasts two to three hours and is mainly outdoors, so be sure to dress for the weather. Bring your own food if you think you'll get hungry. On Saturday afternoons, there are sometimes community work projects or in-depth tours of members' homesites available (the morning tour guide announces afternoon work projects or tours). Besides regularly scheduled Saturday tours, our tour guides are available for two- and three-hour guided tours of Earthaven, including specialized tours focusing on natural building, permaculture design, sustainability, or other topics of interest. Private tour fees are $40 for one person, $50 for two people, and $20/person for three and up. Special rates may apply for large groups. We do not accept credit cards. By advance appointment only, at 2 p.m. on Saturdays, there is an optional tour of Gateway Farm. The fee is $15 minimum per person, $40 minimum per tour. Meet at the barn. Reservations: Brian Love, 828-669-2502.

Camping

The 2010 camping season will be Friday, April 3 through Sunday, November 1, 2010. In season, the campground is open to the public by reservation only. The cost is $15 a night for each adult, except that for two adults on one site the cost is $20 a night. Supporting members are entitled to one ofweek free camping per six months of membership, and discounted rates thereafter. Water is available at the campground, but please bring your own food. Earthaven does not have facilities to serve food to the public.

Visitor lodging is available near the Earthaven gate and there are other options for accommodations in the area.
